unopened reagents in original package have a shelf life of 24 months. opened reagents within the valid period should be used up within 6 months. tightly close the bottle cap after each use to prevent volatilization and deterioration.

store the reagents in a well ventilated environment at 5 degree c to 30 degree c, with relative humidity not more than 80% and no corrosive gas.

take about 0.05-0.1 ml of caseous, purulent or suspicious parts of sputum specimens, spread evenly on the right two-thirds of the slide to form an oval sputum smear of 10mm * 20mm, and air dry naturally. perform heat fixation before staining.
